Sometimes when I attempt to search something on google I am redirected to a blank page that loads nothing. Other times google works fine for me. I have done some research and have heard I might have something known as a rootkit. This scared me when I heard the damage it could do. Looking around the forums I noticed a post where someone was having similar problems. In the solution they were told to download a rootkit detector of sorts. I followed the same steps that were told, but I got an error code while running the scan. The program stopped working. I would like help as to what this is, how do I fix it, and am I in danger

Useful information:

1: I am using Windows 7 Premium

2: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/309331/google-redirects-to-googlecomwebhp/ this the link to the first post I saw

3: A friend sent me an emulator for pokemon. He suggests that I may have agreed to something I shouldn't have and I gave access to something.

4: Right after the download I noticed changes. "Virus detectors" were popping up. I soon did a scan using adwcleaner and it cleared most of the problems, apart from google.

Thank you for reading. Sorry if some of this doesn't make sense it is late at night and I am a bit scared.
