Hello good people of Bleeping computer!

I am looking to buy a new computer for my mom and was wondering if you all could help me out.

She will primarily be using it for checking Facebook, surving the internet.

But also uploading and organizing pictures, making video slideshows...so a computer with good media capibilty would be great.

She will also use it for light processor systems, like word, powerpoint and excel.

and price between 300-700 would be ideal. And either a 13 inch or 15.6 inch.

Please help me out...Thanks guys!

13 to 15.6 says laptop!  Most any late laptop will do the job, try for 6-8 gigs of ram.  Toshiba and Asus have ones that will fill the bill and be dependable.  If possible try to find one with Win 7, it has been found out that Microsoft is holding hands with the NSA providing a nice back door in Win 8.1.  Some think 8 is not any purer!

I'm afraid I'm late to the party here replying.

Have You considered a All-In-One computer for her. With the keyboard sitting in front of it the depth is about the same as a laptop. The screen size is much bigger however. If You get one with a Wireless Keyboard and Mouse You have one wire to the computer for Power and One for the Printer. Wireless for internet. Very low clutter factor and decent power usage too.

Good Luck

Sent from my All-In-One Desktop. Perfect for Internet, Not for heavy usage or gaming however.
