Unable to log into computer

On my wife's laptop when trying to log on to her computer she gets the following message:  'the user profile service failed the log in  -  User profile cannot be loaded'.   I thought an easy fix would be to do a system restore in safe mode, but that did not help.


What do you think?

Alternatively...there is a MS Fixit for this.
