Hello, I am new here. Please let me know if you have any input on my computer troubles.
So my hp dv6 was failing the other day.. I got a message saying "windows detected a hard disk problem etc.." The fans have been noisy for a couple of weeks, but I was not smart enough to take any file backups for months. So I started taking backup over to an external right at the probably worst moment. The computer froze in a loading mode some minutes in to the copying. I turned the computer off old fashion style and on again. Here I was met with a black screen saying "the smart disk has detected an imminent failure. Please backup etc.."
Windows will not load, it just goes back to the black screen adding "boot device not found". At system diagnotics, hard disk test freezes at 12%. My friend tried booting up with linux zorin, but we still could not access any files on the hard disk, it froze when opening map.. A horrible mechanic fan sound appeared both times, so I shut it off again. Now, what is there to do? Is there any way I could access or fix the dying hard disk?
