Hi,

I've gotten a few of these in the last few weeks. I signed on to my computer and then come back shortly and see the blue sign on page again. Once I signed in again, it said:

Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown.

Problem signature:

  Problem Event Name:                        BlueScreen

  OS Version:                                          6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3

  Locale ID:                                             1033

Additional information about the problem:

  BCCode:                                               9f

  BCP1:                                                    0000000000000003

  BCP2:                                                    FFFFFA800A3BBBF0

  BCP3:                                                    FFFFF80000B9C3D8

  BCP4:                                                    FFFFFA800C542010

  OS Version:                                          6_1_7601

  Service Pack:                                       1_0

  Product:                                               768_1

And the Windows box to report the error showed:

Files that help describe the problem:

  C:\Windows\Minidump\062114-17518-01.dmp

  C:\Users\Ryan\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-483181-0.sysdata.xml

Problem Reporting Window … send information to Microsoft

Problem: Shut down unexpectedly

Files that help describe the problem:

062114-17518-01.dmp

sysdata.xml

WERInternalMetadata.xml

Any idea on what this might be? I've ran anti-virus checks and malware checks and nothing turns up.

Here are my specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium

Service Pack 1

Intel® Core ™ i5-4440 CPU @ 3.10 GHz  3.10 GHz

8.00 GB RAM

64 bit Operating System

Thanks so much for any assistance you can provide! :-)

Edited title to reflect STOP error.

Take a look, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2459268 .

All else looks OK to me.

Thanks, Louis. It makes sense that it seemingly shuts down when in sleep mode and when I'm not on it. Since I'm not severely affected by it I guess I can wait until the next software update. Would I need to keep checking back, or would it be a Microsoft update?

I never advise anyone...to obtain drivers from Windows/Microsoft Update :).

If the system is an OEM (HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc.), get drivers from the respective OEM website.

If the system is self-built or custom built...get drivers for onboard functions from the motherboard manufacturer's website.

Me...I just use the Driver's CD which come with my motherboards :).

Luis the CD's that come with the hardware are usually out of date even when they are being burned into the CD back in the factory.

I'd recommend you get the latest drivers from the manufacturer's webpage of each component.

Also the topic starter isn't getting drivers from microsoft, but rather getting updates for Windows 7 from microsoft, they are fairly different things.

Either way according to the Microsoft page Luis linked to it says this would occur with digitizer devices (as in like a touchscreen input device) is there such a device connected to the computer?

I don't think so. I don't use touchscreen at all; just a regular flatscreen monitor. Is there something in particular I need to look for in the task manager?
