Win8 Jumping between programs when typing

Hi, please bear with me, this problem is making it very difficult to make even simple post

 

Win 8

Updated 2 days ago (auto update)

No new programs installed by me

 

Last night my computer working fine. My roommate browsed a torrent site however I saw her and stopped her from d/l anything

 

Now when ever I type it jumps between pages, tabs, menus, everything. Super annoying. Almost like a stuck key or mouse issue but same when I unplug mouse. It seems to not be as bad if I type super slowly which leads me to suspect malware. Doesn't matter if typing in browser, Notepad etc...

 

Win Defender and Malwarebytes say no problem found.

 

Can boot Safe Mode With Networking but internet does not work.

 

I could fix myself on an older system but Win 8 makes me want to throw my laptop. took me 20mins to type this.

 

Most common screen to tab to is the 'tiles' on Win 8 but also the address bar in browser jumps and also the Run menu pops up randomly. It's getting worse by the hour :(

 

Please help!

Hello -

Try and run some of these programs and Copy and Paste any logs.

 

First

Please download and run RKill by Grinler. A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear.
This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully. At worst the tool will run for about 2 minutes

Copy and paste the log back here

 

Important: Do not reboot your computer until you complete the next step.

 

 

* NOW : Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
* Double-click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
* Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
* Click on the Scan button (only once)
* AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
* After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R0].txt) will open in Notepad for review.
* Click on the Clean button (only once)
* Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts.
* Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process.
* After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S0].txt) will open automatically.
* Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.

* A copy of all logfiles are also saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

 

 

Next -

* Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free and save it to your desktop
* Double click the desktop icon, click Run, then OK
* Click Next
* Select I accept the agreement then continue to click Next then finally click Install
** Uncheck Enable free trial of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium if you do not want the free trial of the paid version, then click Finish
* If you are notified the Database is out of date click Update Now
* Click Scan Now >>

** Note: If Malwarebytes will not launch please do the following to launch Malwarebytes Chameleon:
* Click Start (Start, Search, All files and folders for Windows XP) then type mbam
* Double click one of the four following files (if one does not work try the next one, and so on) -

A black command window will open. Follow those instructions until the Malwarebytes program starts the scan

mbam-chameleon.scr
mbam-chameleon
mbam-chameleon.exe
mbam-chameleon.com

** When completed click the down arrow on Export Log and select Text file (*.txt)
* Save the file to your desktop as MBAM
* Click Apply Actions then restart your computer if requested
* Copy and past the contents of MBAM.txt in your reply

 

Last -

Please run a free online scan with the ESET Online Scanner

  • Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus
  • Click on "Run ESET Online Scanner" button.
  • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use
  • Click Start
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Check Scan archives
  • Click Start
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • When the scan completes, click on List of found threats
  • Click on Export to text file , and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.

NOTE. If Eset doesn't find any threats it will NOT produce any log

Thanks so far for those results, but please note that ESET online will take quite some time to run.

 

I usually run it once every few months and it "can" take several hours.

 

Not sure if you can, but these may help us to look deeper (how are things now ??)........

 

 

Download Security Check by Screen317 from HERE
* Save it to your Desktop.
* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.
Note: If a security program requests permission to access the Internet, allow it to do so.

 

 

This may tell us if a program was D/loaded from the Torrent site.

 

Download MiniToolBox, Save it to your desktop and run it.
Close any Firefox browsers you may have open
Checkmark the following boxes:
• Flush DNS
• Report IE Proxy Settings
• Reset IE Proxy Settings
• Report FF Proxy Settings
• Reset FF Proxy Settings
• List last 10 Event Viewer log
• List Installed Programs
• List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
Click Go and copy / paste the result (Result.txt).

Trying to run ESET now... window opens, check accept... nothing? Should I disconnect from internet? Doesn't seem good to be online with Defender off..

 

Ok it's scanning... halfway done

 

 

DONE. No log from ESET????

Leave the computer off And off-line for 10 minutes, Restart and post back .......

It seems that this is not rare ......

 

Are the blackened icons functional ?

 

These problems all seem OpenOffice related.
Create a new user account then the new useraccount has all icons correct !

 

So it needs to be a user specific issue and therefore it needs to be a value in the registry I suppose.

No change..... the black icons are gone (seems opening it again fixed that) but the jumping window/menu problem still exists....

 

Is weird bc while I usually use OpenOffice, I have yet to install it on this relatively new machine.....?

Responses to your errors shown in MiniToolBox (from Windows 8 forum responses)

 

Run sfc/scan.
The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. When the scan is complete, the System File Checker tool indicates whether integrity violations were found. If integrity violations are found, the System File Checker tool lets you fix the integrity violations.
 
Follow these steps to run sfc/scan.
a.      Press the Windows + X keys and click/tap on Command Prompt (Admin).
b.      In the elevated command prompt, type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
NOTE: This may take a while to finish running.
 

 

 

Clear the store / cache
1.  Press "Windows key + R"
2. Type " wsreset.exe " and click OK

 

Go to Programs and try to uninstall Vuse, this may have been the Torrent that had you concerned.
