Hello,

I am not sure where to post this. I had installed an used (successfully) a VPN software. Then I could not disconnect so I exited out of the program. Since then I can no longer access the internet on my laptop. I uninstalled the program and did a system restore but still, no internet. I have Windows 8 and I don't know what else you'd need to know to help.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

I'm assuming that there have been a few reboots along the way. Without VPN how are you trying to connect? [wired or wireless] Also, have you rebooted the router?

Keep us posted

I've done reboots, and my connection is wireless. I didn't reboot the router. Eventually,  I manaed to fix it with the troubleshoot of Windows for the internet. I still don't know what the problem was, though. I had tried the troubleshoot first, before writing here, and the first time it didn't fix anything. I'd still like to use VPN, but I am troubled by this issue, espeically since I cannot figure out what the problem was. Thank you!

Hi,

It sounds like the problem may be in the way you terminate your VPN session. If that connection remains you will not be able to access the Internet.

Keep us posted

Yeah, when I used the VPN, I suddenly couldn't disconnect, like the program crashed? I don't rememember how I exited out of it, but that must have messed something up. I have used theVPN again since then and it worked. Hopefully, if this happens again, I will be able to fix the internet connection again. It's all pretty weird. Thanks.

Glad to hear that the problem is solved. Also glad that you have a plan for the 'next' time [hope that's a long wy off]

Be sure to keep all of the hard and soft components up to date. Makes it easier to troubleshoot.
