I receive this error when trying to install Matlab, or the standalone c++ 2005 installer from Microsoft.

I think I have tried all the suggestions that I could find on the web, inlcuding the .Net repair tool from BC. I have tried installing too many times, so that no older restore points exist.

I once got great help here as a teenager removing malware.

Is there a log-file or something, that I can post here, and get help to sort out this issue?
