I tried to remove a virus (some sort of PC Boost) and it was not working so I did a system restore. It appears the virus is gone but now I can not open internet explorer or Chrome. When I tried to run my malwarebytes  I now get an "missing or corrupt" message. I can't get off that message and I now have no internet, ugh. Any Ideas?

Thanks so much for your reply back! Unfortunately I work midnight's and the only time I have access to a clean computer is when I am at work. I will be back at 7:00 eastern tonight and I will do as you instructed. As far as my laptop...last night I got frustrated so I did a System Restore ( my computer "knowledge level" on a scale of 1-10 is about a 4). The System Restore removed the pop up but it also completely locked every thing else up. I could not access the internet or any files. Now that I was in panic mode I un-did the restore. The pop up is back and I still can not access any internet or files. Before leaving this morning I did make a copy of malware bytes from the desktop and put it on my thumb drive. I was planing on transferring it to my laptop. I will hold off and await further instruction from you. Again since I can not get on the internet from my laptop all Running of programs is going to have to involve me looking up the program on my desktop (at work) copying same and transferring it to my laptop. Again thanks a lot, you smart guys are the best.

What version of Malwarebytes are you running?

Can you boot into Safe Mode with Networking?

If you can, see if you can get online.

If you can't get online, try running Malwarebytes in Safe Mode.  If you have the 2.0.2 version of Malwarebytes Chameleon mode is integrated.

If you are running the old version use the Chameleon mode.

Running Malwarebytes Chameleon.

1. Please open Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

2. Click on More Tools, then open click on Chameleon.

3. An image like the one below will appear on your screen. Follow the instructions to get Malwarebytes Anti-Malware running.

I tried getting on line last night and it did not work, I will try again

I am on safe mode now .......

That version has the Chameleon intergrated in it.

Run this in Safe Mode and post the log.

To find your Malwarebytes log, download mbam-check.exe from here and save it to your desktop.

To open the log double click on mbam-check.exe on your desktop.  When the log opens, scroll down toward the bottom of the log to Quarantined Items.  Copy and paste this in your next post.
