When starting my computer it show two operating systems of Windows XP how do I get rid of the one choice so computer will just startup and not wait for me to select between them. I have only one system installed.

As far as i know you would have to Re-Install Windows making sure that in the process you format the drive completely

That is probably remnants of a not so clean install. If you can determine which link is invalid you can remove it from you startup. With that said I would leave it alone. If you remove the wrong one windows may not boot properly, or at all.

Well, the other posters may be correct, it may be a bad install, but not always. I have seen this happen and it can be edited out with no problems.

But first I need to know two things:

1)What happens if you choose the other operating system? Please try this and describe exactly what happens.

2) Go to:

Start > right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery Settings

Click on the Edit button. Copy what you see and then paste it in this forum in your next reply.

I will then tell you how to get rid of this 'bogus' second choice.
