Hello  June 9, 2014

Computer is a  Dell XPS, Win 7, 64 with a RAID 1 system ( Mirror image)

McAfee subscription is active.

My wife was looking at some recipes yesterday when screen freezes up, then a blue screen. When it restarted it showed an error box as Local1033 BCCode a0000001 ( I think) Seemed OK last evening. This morning when waking it up had a colored screen that transitioned to some distorted icons and orange vertical lines. Contacted Dell as the machine is still under warranty. Tech did a basic F12 diagnostic, then took it over remotely and viewed error reports. Seemed to quickly want to do a reformat and reinstall without any other more in-depth tests.

I disconnected the external back-up during a shutdown this AM. Plugged it back in this afternoon. This evening I was looking around the external drive to see exactly what files it was automatically backing up. Up until this afternoon the only folders listed in the backup were C. Which I assume is the C drive. Since this afternoon it is now listing an additional folder / drive, Y which contains a file “ ADRInfos.xml

Ran a quick MBAM scan with nothing showing. Decided to do a full scan. The window to select the drives to scan is showing a Y drive???? There is no Y drive showing in my computer and I have no idea what this is.

I only selected the C drive to scan with MBAM which is now underway.

Could malware have created a Y drive as a partition?

Would it be OK to let MBAM scan the “Y “ Drive.

Help and suggestions are appreciated

Best Regards
