Homegroup setup in win7 pro

Having a hard time getting a homegroup setup, tried turning on network discovery and file sharing and it reverts to off, tried leaving homegroup and it denies the action, does the same with attempting to change the homegroup password.  Could use a little help with this, Thanks

Are you on a Home Network? Is this the only computer involved?

--- Did you originally create the homegroup on this computer or did you have to join a homegroup?

Thanks for the suggestion but I think I found some bigger problems going on with this, hopefully I won't have to do anything drastic
