Dvd-cd not recogniZe

 I'd check to see if the BIOS detects the drive.  If not, you might have a bad cable.  Do the lights on the drive flicker when you boot up?  If not, I'd suspect a hardware problem.  If the BIOS can see the drive, you might try cleaning it with an inexpensive cleaning disc you can buy at most stores selling computers.  Worst case if you have to replace the drive, they cost less than $20 and are easy to replace on desktops.  Also starting around $25 you can buy an external CD/DVD drive that plugs into a USB port.
