Hey. Been encountering this problem the past 2 days where I get the blue screen of death every hour or so. Upon restarting my screen goes into a weird white screen of death where I have to constantly reboot to get to the home screen and have a proper boot.

After an hour the problem returns.  I've done a chkdsk a few times and the problem hasn't be solved.

I did both malware bytes and sfc /scannow (which said some files were corrupted and couldn't be fxed). I uninstalled my video card driver and a few USB drivers just to see if that would fix things.

I've ran BlueScreen View and got these two reports if this means anything:

:welcome: to the Bleeping Computer forum.

As a first step, please publish a snapshot of our system using "Speccy" as per the below guide.

Could you also upload the Dump files from the Directory :- "C:\Windows\Minidumps\"

These are necessary to help troubleshooting your problem. Copy paste them to your Desktop and then zip them up and upload ^_^

I would love to. Just having problems entering the windows start again as I'm getting hammered with a fading white screen.

Edit: Uploaded the mini dump as requested. The workaround to the white screen I found was turning on my laptop, closing the lid, waiting a few minutes and it boots to windows.  Keeping the top open for some reason boots to a white fading screen and never gets to windows.

Unfortunately i have some bad news for you. Hard drive SMART data collected by "Speccy" clearly indicates your HDD is clearly failing. KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR is usually caused by a failing hard drive and it further confirms that.

Source : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-in/library/windows/hardware/ff559211(v=vs.85).aspx

  • 0xC000009A, or STATUS_INSUFFICIENT_RESOURCES, indicates a lack of nonpaged pool resources.

  • 0xC000009C, or STATUS_DEVICE_DATA_ERROR, typically indicates bad blocks (sectors) on the hard disk.

  • 0xC000009D, or STATUS_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED, indicates defective or loose cabling, termination, or that the controller does not see the hard disk.

  • 0xC000016A, or STATUS_DISK_OPERATION_FAILED, indicates bad blocks (sectors) on the hard disk.

  • 0xC0000185, or STATUS_IO_DEVICE_ERROR, indicates improper termination or defective cabling on SCSI devices or that two devices are trying to use the same IRQ.

  • 0xC000000E, or STATUS_NO_SUCH_DEVICE, indicates a hardware failure or an incorrect drive configuration. Check your cables and check the drive with the diagnostic utility available from your drive manufacturer. If you are using older PATA (IDE) drives, this status code can indicate an incorrect master/subordinate drive configuration.

Please follow the below steps.

1. Backup all data to an external medium as soon as possible.

2. Download and install "Seagate Seatool" from the below link.

    http://www.seagate.com/in/en/support/downloads/item/seatools-win-master/

3. Run the tool and select your main HDD - 465 GB Hitachi HTS545050A7E380 - for testing. Choose Basic Tests --> Long Generic and wait for it ti finish.

Let me know the result with next reply.

Hi Anshad,

I have analyzed the dump files and I don't think that there is a problem with the Hard Disk. Furthermore, the Speccy of the OP's computer is giving "Good" status in every HDD column which should mean that the HDD is fine itself but rather something else is causing the problem. Below has been provided an analysis of the latest dump file for Informative purposes :-

3: kd> !analyze -v

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a)
The requested page of kernel data could not be read in.  Typically caused by
a bad block in the paging file or disk controller error. Also see
KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR.
If the error status is 0xC000000E, 0xC000009C, 0xC000009D or 0xC0000185,
it means the disk subsystem has experienced a failure.
If the error status is 0xC000009A, then it means the request failed because
a filesystem failed to make forward progress.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000004, lock type that was held (value 1,2,3, or PTE address)
Arg2: 0000000000000000, error status (normally i/o status code)
Arg3: ffffe000c61e8640, current process (virtual address for lock type 3, or PTE)
Arg4: 0000000002cb997c, virtual address that could not be in-paged (or PTE contents if arg1 is a PTE address)

@OP :- Could you please run Driver Verifier according to this LINK. Please post back your latest dump files with driver verifier enabled. Also, did you notice any strange issues like sudden disappearance of personal files or some wierd symptoms prior?

@bluevees

With all due respect, i don't think you are not that familiar with crash dump analysis and interpreting SMART data. I would suggest waiting for the result of diagnostic test before jumping in to suggesting last resorts like "Verifier" which is absolutely unnecessary.

Fair Enough. But, just that before replacing the HDD, we must be sure of it.

So it failed the long generic test very 5 minutes into the 2 hour test. What does that tell you?

As i said earlier, your drive is failing and the diagnostic test conformed that. The result is just what i expected.I could tell you directly replace the drive without running the test but you may have a hard time believing that the HDD is actually failed. So i suggested running the test for your convenience.

Bad sectors are physical defects which can't be just repaired.I would recommend to replace the drive as soon as possible.

I ran chkdsk C: /f /r /x and checked RAM with  Memory Diagnostics Tool and no problems came up.
However I have the blue error screen almost every 15 min still.

Any idea what I could do to fix it?
