Hi everyone , every few days it seems my auto updates for Windows update switches back to value (2) instead of (4) which i changed to value (4) because value (2) stops the computer from automatically downloading updates which is what i want .

Even in the admin account it won't allow me to select auto updates because that option is hazed over with a transparent look, it tells me some options are handled by the administrator but i am in the admin account and i am the administrator .

Any ideas why this is happening?

Thank you

Hi,

Before executing the following steps please create a new restore point.

Using regedit locate the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]

- Rename the WindowsUpdate key to WindowsUpdate2

- restart the computer

- you should now be able to change the windows update settings
