My printer driver has required a re-install on several random occassions. Now my keyboard was not working, so I rebooted, and unplugged the USB and when I plugged it back in I got a message that the hardware device was detected and driver was loaded succesfully? Is my p/c security questionable, or mayeb just an old p/c and Vista issue???

You should look in the Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus controllers to see if there are any problems, yellow warning or red error icons.

Is you printer wireless or connected via a USB port?
