My pc was continually shutting down so I did a reinstall of win 7 home basic 64bit. Prior to this I bought a seagate ext hard drive and borrowed a wd external hard drive. I backed up my c drive to both using the seagate acronis and the wd smartware software.

Using the seagate drive I recovered the files to a new g drive partition on my hard © drive and this shows a volume of 200+gb yet when I click on this drive the folders are only showing a few thousand kb of information and I cannot access any of my original files.

What am I not understanding please?

When you say you can't access any of your original files what is the error message that you are getting?

Is it possible you have hidden files? Enable viewing of hidden files?

When it says a volume of 200+ GB this could mean the total capacity of the partition and not your files. If you right click on the partition and click properties it will show you the used space versus the free and total space.

Pardon me, but I just started writing what Kunal wrote...Using different words.

If you don't know how to show hidden files or check the free and used space, let us know.
