A while ago AT&T sent a new modem to our house and everyone else's computers, laptops, etc connected. However, when I went to "connect" to the new network name and put in the passworfd, it worked but won't conenct automatically upon startup. Randomly the connection would end, and I'd have to reconnect. No one else has this issue so I'm sure it's my computer's issue and not the hardware.

Now, after reinstalling the software for it, I can't connect at all. I will "connect", and it shows signal, but I open the internet and it will be extremely slow to load the default google page, and by the time it loads, the connection is gone and will not let me connect again. What's wrong? I haven't been using my computer often, at all, for about a year. I don't think I downloaded anything new, so I'm not sure it's a virus.

Please help, thanks.

Are you using a router?

Are you using the correct name for the workgroup/network?  Did you try inputting the network settings anew?

I'm pretty sure it's a wireless router, and it has the correct name. My dad had uninstalled and reinstalled the netgear so I'm sure that reset the settings.
