Hi there, Just read about Junkware Removal Tool in a magazine and did some research, so thought it a good idea to give it a go. I reports that it has fixed some reg entries and deleted a few things, so assume that all is hunky dory. But when I fired up my Firefox, the entire screen was different. I like Littlefox and that has gone, there are buttons scattered around that I have never put on. It's not a problem as I restored a back-up profile and I'm back to normal, however, when i read the jrt.txt file, the following were deleted: ~~~ FireFox Successfully deleted: [File] C:\Documents and Settings\Rex\Application Data\mozilla\firefox\profiles\nzdxgttk.default\user.js Successfully deleted: [File] C:\Documents and Settings\Rex\Application Data\mozilla\firefox\profiles\nzdxgttk.default\invalidprefs.js Successfully deleted: [File] C:\Documents and Settings\Rex\Application Data\mozilla\firefox\profiles\nzdxgttk.default\extensions\browserprotect@browserprotect.com.xpi Successfully deleted: [File] C:\Documents and Settings\Rex\Application Data\mozilla\firefox\profiles\nzdxgttk.default\searchplugins\askcom.xml Successfully deleted: [File] C:\Documents and Settings\Rex\Application Data\mozilla\firefox\profiles\nzdxgttk.default\searchplugins\babylon.xml Successfully deleted the following from C:\Documents and Settings\Rex\Application Data\mozilla\firefox\profiles\nzdxgttk.default\prefs.js Is this normal JRT behaviour? If it removes my user files, it is not much use. Suggestion welcome, Thanks Rex

thisisu (a member of the BC Malware Response Team) that will remove many potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), adware, toolbars, browser hijackers, extensions, add-ons, browser helper objects (BHOs) and other junkware. JRT is designed to remove all traces of these types of programs which includes services, registry values, registry keys, files, folders and potentially unwanted extensions. JRT will also restore some default settings for Internet Explorer, Mozilla FireFox and Google Chrome.

JRT automatically removes whatever it finds...there are no options to skip or ignore detections and no option to backup/restore removed items. Since JRT is a batch file, it extracts to a temporary folder and does NOT create backups of what was removed but it does backup the registry.

JRT's disclaimer clearly states: "This software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. You may use this software at your own risk."
