Malware?  I haven't scanned anything yet.  I've read across the internet about loose connections and updating the driver.  But what are the odds this would start on 2 computers on the same day?

I.T. guy playing tricks, possible infection, maybe a windows update caused the issue. Seems this could be anything. You could push the eject button a few times to fix a possible stuck button...

I would run some virus scans to be safe.

Question: does any 1 person have access to both computers? If so maybe someone setup a scheduled task for a joke that ejects the cd/dvd drive every so often. I would check the scheduled tasks for any strange cd/dvd drive eject command.

Maybe they found this thread: http://www.wikihow.com/Program-a-Computer%27s-Optical-Drive-Prank

Being in I.T. I have used similar :) Sometimes a prank is worth a 1000 laughs and this one is mostly harmless. Happy computing.
