Hi Guys

We are running a laptop on Windows 7 and have free Aviva antivirus as my security. Have just renewed, and it now has a function that allows you to remove "bloatware", tweeks the registry system and removes junk files. Is this safe to use.

regards

Avira System Speedup is a separate suite of optimizing tools available as a separate trial download and part of Avira's more comprehensive Internet Security suite.

The free version does not include suite of optimization tools unless you upgrade when renewing...then you need to purchase after the trial period expires.

Bleeping Computer DOES NOT recommend the use of registry cleaners/optimizers for several reasons.
Please read: Why you should not use Registry Cleaners and Optimization Tools

There are free alternatives which can be used to remove junk files such as CCleaner.

To remove common trial and promotional software, Toolbars and junk programs often installed on a new computer by OEMs, use PC De-crapifier which provides a wizard style interface with step by step instructions.

For other programs you don't recognize or know whether they are worthwhile to keep or be removed, use Should I Remove It?.

I noticed that this thread title is not in synch with thread contents.

Yes I believe the OP typed Avast by mistake as the feature he was referring to is from Avira. I fixed the title accordingly.
