I have been getting BSODs lately. I suspect it's a driver issue, as I am using a brand new pc and it only started happening about a week after I built it. I ran sfc and it came up clean. I attempted to re-create the error but it doesn't seem to be centered on any specific incident. I uninstalled/reinstalled my video drivers and started getting freezes instead of BSODs. Unfortunately, the BSODs are back after a few weeks. I was wondering if anyone could assist me with this problem. I used blue screen view to help me post what you see below. Please let me know whatever else I might need to post to get help with this. My specs are as follows:

Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium Service Pack 1
AMD FX-6300
G.Skill Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600
Biostar TA970 ATX AM3+
Radeon Sapphire R9 270x 4 GB
Hitachi Ultrastar 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
EVGA 500W ATX12V / EPS12V

Hello! I'm sure someone here will be able to help you. See if you can get a clue of what's causing your BSOD with this built in feature of Windows.

It's a great tool that no one uses but I think it can be a big help. It's a windows feature. No down loading any thing.

http://www.howtogeek.com/166911/reliability-monitor-is-the-best-windows-troubleshooting-tool-you-arent-using/

Reliability Monitor tracks the history of your computer — any time an application crashes, hangs, or Windows gives you a blue screen of death. It also tracks other important events, like when software is installed, or Windows Updates loads a new patch

Let's get some more information together in order to get a better idea of what is occurring.

Please download and install Speccy to provide us with information about your computer.  When  FileHippo opens, click on Download latest version in the upper right pane.

When Speccy opens you will see a screen similar to the one below.

speccy9_zps2d9cdedc.png

Click on File which is outlined in red in the screen above, and then click on Publish Snapshot.

The following screen will appear, click on Yes.

speccy7_zpsfa02105f.png

The following screen will appear, click on Copy to Clipboard.

speccy3_zps1791b093.png

In your next post right click inside the Reply to Topic box, then click on Paste.  This will load a link to the Speccy log.

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

 Checkmark the following checkboxes:

• List last 10 Event Viewer log
• List Installed Programs
• List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
• List Minidump Files

Click on Go to start the scan.  Once it is finished highlight the text, copy it and paste it in your next post.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Donetao, thanks for this information. I didn't even know about this. You'd think MS would be more proactive about educating its users as to what might assist them with troublsehooting. Thanks again for your time. I'll keep posting until this is figured out.

DC3, thanks for your timeley response. I'll get to this as soon as I am able. Thanks.

Hello! There are a lot of computer owners that don't know about this feature in Windows. There are a lot of advisers on the BC forum that don't know about it also. It's a great tool and if you use it regularly it can really keep you on top of what's going on with your PC. At the moment I have a perfect 10. I'm trying my best to make members aware of it, but need some help.

Please let me know your thoughts and pass it on.

The first thing I see is that you are running two antivirus programs.  You should not run more than one at a time.  I would suggest disabling Windows Defender.  I also see that you have Zone Alarm antivirus installed, if you are going to use Avast you need to uninstall Zone Alarm.  Disabling it will not keep it from interfering with Avast or any other antivirus you use.  I would make this a priority as it could be responsible for some of what your are experiencing.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Using more than one anti-virus program is not advisable. Why? The primary concern with doing so is due to Windows resource management and significant conflicts that can arise especially when they are running in real-time protection mode simultaneously. Even if one of them is disabled for use as a stand-alone on demand scanner, it can affect the other and cause conflicts. Anti-virus software components insert themselves deep into the operating systems core where they install kernel mode drivers that load at boot-up regardless of whether real-time protection is enabled or not. Thus, using multiple anti-virus solutions can result in kernel mode conflicts causing system instability, catastrophic crashes, slow performance and waste vital system resources. When actively running in the background while connected to the Internet, each anti-virus may try to update their definition databases at the same time. As the programs compete for resources required to download the necessary files this often can result in sluggish system performance or unresponsive behavior.

Credit for this information goes to quietman7.

When you boot into Safe Mode does the problem persist?

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

dc3, I knew that about running more than one av, but I did not know that merely having the software (even disabled) could cause issues. So, I disabled Defender, got rid of Avast, and I am now only using Zone Alarm free firewall+antivirus. I'd have used the Avast suite but I don't have the $ at this time. I will start booting into safe mode and letting the pc run for a few hours and see if the BSODs still occur. Again, thanks for your time.

I ran the pc for four days and didn't get any BSODs. Then they started again.

Are you using any of the AMD extra power options in the AMD Vision Engine Control Center?

I would suggest updating you graphics drivers.

I just updated the graphics drivers earlier today, and then it happened. I uninstalled, ran ccleaner, doublechecked to make sure the relevant folders were gone, rebooted and reinstalled them. I am also using a cheap wireless dongle I received with a tv I bought. It has caused the network connection to crash more than a few times, so I ordered a new nic and should be receiving it in a few days. Possibly that has something to do with it. I am also going through my programs and removing anything I don't use. Thanks for keeping up with the thread. I wholeheartedly appreciate it. Hopefully, I'll be back with good news.

Oh, and I'm not using any of the amd extra power options. I don't mess with overclocking and any of that other stuff. I'm just happy to have a computer.

The next time you get a BSOD run the MiniToolBox again and post the log.

Let's run a sfc /scannow.

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces corrupted and incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Click on the Sart orb and then type cmd in the Search programs and files box.

In the pane above the search box Programs will appear with cmd below it, right click on cmd and choose Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, enter the password, or click Allow.

A page similar to the one below will open.

Type in sfc /scannow and then press Enter to start the scan.  Please notice the space between sfc and the /scannow.

If the scan finds no integrity  problems in the first portion of the scan it should stop, to be sure that the scan has stopped wait five minutes, then type in exit and press Enter to stop the scan.

When the scan is finished please post the log of this scan.

To find sfc /scannow log, type cmd in the Search programs and files box,

cmd will appear above the search box under Apps., right click on it and choose Run as administrator, this will open the Elevated Command Prompt.  This will look simlare to the image below.

copy and paste the following in the Search programs and files box, then press Enter.

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt

This will place a new icon on the desktop titled sfcdetails.  Click on this to open the log, copy it and paste it in your topic.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
