Hi guys,

I'm new to here. I have Window XP. I have SurfSideKick adware on my computer and Microsoft anti virus software has removed some files. I have done a scan with "house call" - this didnt remove the adware.

Upon following the instructions on how to remove this adware from this site i get to step 7. It cannot find
C:Program Files\SurfSideKick 3\Ssk.exe /u (i think it may have been deleted by the anti virus - not sure). So i cant move on to the next step to HackThis.

The folder that is in C:Program Files has the following files [ Ssk, Ssk.Bho.dll , SskCore.dll ]

I cant remove the adware using the Control Panel Add\Remove.

I read in another post that i may have to reinstall it to be able to uninstall it because not all the files are there. Is this the case?

Any help would be great appreciated. I do not know very much technically about computers.

P.S Thanks for all the info provided in this site about the firewalls, and antivirus etc. It is helpful to have clear information and advice.

Welcome kymmy

Since your having problems using the self-help tutorial I suggest you read and follow all instructions in the pinned topic titled Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log.

When you have done that, post a log in the HijackThis Logs and Analysis Forum, not here, for assistance by the HJT Team Experts.

It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are very busy. Please be patient as they are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have no replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response, a team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.
