Hi all,
I've been having this pop up now for sometime.
I have tried various things, but found that alot of pop up blockers are not only stopping this pop up but also stopping Internet Explorer from starting.
The pop up Mainly starts with the use of Internet Explorer and MSN.....occasionally other things but rarely.
It starts off http:/ad.oinadserver.com/iframe, then turns into advertising for numerous things.
I have followed the steps provided at the start and after doing what it says, still nothing has found or erased it.
I have been able to manually remove the temp files that appear like NDr9D but they come back.
The Stinger returned with a clear scan, i rebooted then tried again, still all clear.
I run Zone Labs/Zone Alarm and AVG 7.1 all the time, they work great together and they never find anything to help with this pop up either, i was using before Norton and that was the same result.

Here is the results from the HijackThis Scan, Please advise and thank you for your time

Hello {}{}.:**:.,

Welcome to Bleeping Computer

Let's start chipping away at this mess. We'll deal with the Purity Scan First :

You'll want to disable your Windows Defender real time protection, as it may interfere with the changes we'll need to make to clean your computer. Be sure to reenable it once your computer is clean.
  • Open Windows Defender.
  • Click on Tools, General Settings.
  • Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
  • After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.
Look in your control panel's add/remove programs for PuritySCAN By OIN, OuterInfo, OIN or similar .Click on it and then click remove.

Reboot and if found, delete this folder:

C:\Program Files\PurityScan

If not listed, download and run this uninstaller:
http://www.outerinfo.com/OiUninstaller.exe

Tutorial for the uninstaller if needed

Reboot when done and if found, delete this folder:

C:\Program Files\PurityScan

Download the Hoster Here
http://www.funkytoad.com/download/hoster.zip

Unzip Hoster to your desktop

Open up the Hoster program.

* Make sure that the "make hosts writable?" button in the upper right corner is enabled.
* Click back up Host files
* then click Restore orginal host files
* close program

Use Cleanmgr to clean temporary files:

1. Click > start > run and type cleanmgr and click OK
2. Scan your system for files to remove.
3. Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
4. Click OK to remove those files.
5. Click Yes to confirm deletion.

Download the trial version of Spy Sweeper from
Here

Install it using the Standard Install option. (You will be asked for your e-mail address, it is safe to give it. If you receive alerts from your firewall, allow all activities for Spy Sweeper)

You will be prompted to check for updated definitions, please do so.
(This may take several minutes)

Click on Options > Sweep Options and check Sweep all Folders on Selected drives. Check Local Disc C. Under What to Sweep, check every box.

Click on Sweep and allow it to fully scan your system.

When the sweep has finished, click Remove. Click Select All and then Next

From 'Results', select the Session Log tab. Click Save to File and save the log somewhere convenient.

Exit Spy Sweeper.

Restart your computer, and then please copy and paste the SpySweeper log into this thread, along with a new HijackThis log. If it takes more than one post, that's okay. use as many as you need. I need to see it all.

Thanks,
tea

Hi Teacup,

Thank you very much for your time in replying to me, its much appreciated.
Unfortunatly yesterday my computer went strange and eventually wouldnt boot up.
I think it was due to a power cut we had so i got my tech round to help sort it, we couldnt get it back right so eventually the last resort was to reinstall windows.
Which means my pop up problem is now sorted......not as i would of liked

Im going to keep your instructions incase i do happen to end up with this again, and also this site.
Its a great forum and well done to you all.

I have 1 issue with my other drive now grrrr lol

Never ending is it. :flowers:

Thanks again for your time, take care

Lisa
