My name is Rosalind, nice to meet you all :D

Joining this site as it seems to be a really great tool to utilise when things don't work as they should on my computer.

Computers in general seem to just not like me, though I treat them with care, they tend to go haywire for unknown reasons. I once had a macbook, fresh from the store, and within a week of turning it on for the first time, it kernel panicked on me... and I didn't do anything other than use skype, text programs, and websites like facebook, tumblr... I don't know why, and neither did the apple technicians I sent it to. After months of it being in and out of under-warranty service, they replaced my computer entirely.

Aaaanyway... I'm here because recently I've had strange issues that I don't understand with my boyfriend's computer. I was searching up the problem with key phrases on google (as you do) and I found a thread from this website for a similar issue (but not the same). The mod who was speaking with the other person was really patient, kind, and helpful (his name was Oh My!, if I remember correctly). So it seems like a nice place to get help without feeling stupid or having people be condescending towards you.

I look forward to meeting the mods, and also to hopefully getting my computer working again!!

Hiya NextHop and Zingo :)

I have a current issue, it's kinda complicated (in terms of multiple symptoms) and I've been slowly working at fixing it over the past few days. I think I'm getting somewhere; startup time has decreased A LOT (from about half an hour to five minutes) and I've purged a lot of adware, malware, spyware, etc. from the laptop.

Here's a link to my post if you have the time to have a read: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/533479/device-manager-is-blank-a-host-of-other-problems/

Thanks guys ^_^
