Hi,

Can anyone recommend a free program for coverting .AVI to .MOV files? There seem to be quite a few video convertors out there but  am not sure which ones I can trust.

Has anyone used:

It appears to do what I want but I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has used it.

:)

Works great. However the installer has ADWARE, so make sure you deline any add-on offers and uncheck the boxes for the ASK toolbar installation.

Many thanks for your reply K6567. It seems like lots of the free Video Convertor softwares have ADWARE. I guess people are just trying to make some money off their work. I think I will give Format Factory a go.

I was searching for other options last night and also came up with these that seem to do the job:

Today, there are many methods to convert AVI to MOV. Here list three of the most common ways to help you.

Method one:

If you don't mind wasting your time and your source file is smaller than 100MB, you can choose Online AVI to MOV Converter. You need to pai at least $7 per month to convert MP4 video larger than 100MB, that's too much.

Method two:
If you care about the output quality and don't want to waste your time, a professional and easy-to-use AVI to MOV Converter is required.

Method three:
If you are not care about the endless ads and plug-ins, you can select free programs to convert AVI to MOV.

Thanks Kozziel.

I decided not to go with a free program because of all the bad reviews I had read.

Have downloaded a trial of Powerdirector Deluxe as it gets good reviews and I can edit with it also.

Will put up a post to see how it works out...

:)

VLC can probably do it, but using it for this process would be a trial and error process and might take several attempts to get right. VlC is free, open-source and the installer from VLC's official site will not have any bundleware. As a general tip I would mention that video conversion usually causes a drop in quality, done well the drop won't be much but there will always be one.
