But the "Wireless" button on my Sony Vaio doesn't light up, and I cannot connect up to my new Virgin hub. My son's laptops both connected up with no problems, so I'm left  believing that it must be me. What can I do to get my laptop to go wireless? Any ideas, anyone?

See here, laptops usually have a switch to turn the wireless on/off, probably just need to flip the switch.

Thanks, QQQQ, it was a valiant effort, but I've already tried that. The switch never lights up; something else is wrong.  Thanks for the try though.

Hello,

Do you see the wireless adapter listed in Device Manager? Is there a yellow exclamation mark next to network adapter? What it the model number of the Vaio?

* Jumping up and down * I DID IT!!!!!!! It seems that the green rectangle with white arrows going in opposite directions is the Vaio Smart Network box. It contains a digital picture of a wireless connection switch which was turned off. I turned it on and got progress. (True I had to do a System Restore to get rid of previous failures, but what the heck? ) Thanks very much for the help, guys, it's lovely to know that you were willing to help. xx
