yesterday one of my friend came to me with his problem.

he told me that his USB port is not recognizing his flash drives and when ever he connects his cellphone using his USB cable then first a message is shown that "installing device driver".

then a next message is shown that "Device driver was not installed successfully".

At last a dialog box is shown and specifically  it is mentioned there ::::>

                      OM                                                     * failed

Thank you.

Hey,

This can sometimes happen if a USB controller driver is not up to date.

To check go to device manager.

Windows XP

Windows 7;

  • Click Start
  • In the search box type device manager

Windows 8/8.1;

  • Swipe the right and click search
  • Type device manager

In here click Action then Scan for hardware changes

If you see a yellow triangle with an exclamation point (!) then you need to update a driver.

Thanks,

Darktune

In that case you might need to refresh the USB ports by uninstalling and reinstalling the USB controller drivers in his computer.
