Apple released numerous security updates for Apple TV, AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule, OS X, and IOS 4+. Many of these update resolve serious security vulnerabilities that include code execution, application termination, and Heartbleed vulnerabilities. The updates that were released today are:
  • Apple TV 6.1.1 was released Apple TV 2nd and 3rd generation devices. This update fixes 4 security holes, one of which allows arbitrary code execution.
  • iOS 7.1.1 was released for iPhone 4 and later that resolves for security vulnerabilities. One of these vulnerabilities allows application termination or arbitrary code execution when visiting maliciously crafted web sites.
  • Security Update 2014-002 includes 13 security updates for OS X. Quite a few of these patched vulnerabilities allow arbitrary code execution or the ability for an attacker to take control over the computer.
  • AirPort Base Station Firmware Update 7.7.3 for Airport Extreme and Time Capsule that resolves the OpenSSL Heartbleed vulnerability.
As most of these updates resolve serious vulnerabilities such as Heartbleed and code execution, it is strongly advised that you install them as soon as possible.

One must wonder, if my iPhone, jailbroken on iOS 7.0.1 is vulnerable, and if a jailbreak hotfix would be available.. I think my next phone is going to be an android phone.

AirPort Base Station Firmware Update 7.7.3 for Airport Extreme and Time Capsule that resolves the OpenSSL Heartbleed vulnerability.

It should be noted that this is not ALL Airport Extremes/Time Capsules…just for the newest models that support 802.11ac. This update does not affect older versions.
