Hello, my laptop recently bluescreened. I had to buy a new hard drive and take it in to someone to reinstall windows and all the proper drivers. Now that I finally have it back, I downloaded the installer for Google Chrome and was surprised to find it would not open. It was as if my computer had forgotten how to open an .exe file. I was prompted to select a program to open this "new" filetype, with my options being things like Internet Explorer and Paint. I tried a few other installers like the VLC installer to no avail and have no idea what to do. Can anyone help me?

It probably has to do with your newly installed Windows isn't yet updated with the service pack and .net framework updates.

Hello,

1> Press CTRL + R.

2> Type in: cmd

3> Place the EXE file on your desktop.

4> Now type in the command prompt: cd C:/Users/[YourUsernameWithoutBrackets]/Desktop

5> Then, simply type in the filename (THE FULL FILENAME WITH .EXE) in the command bar and press Enter. Does it open?

Please tell me the results. Thanks,
