I can access my  gmx, outlook, aol emails OK but clicking on Google Mail - Inbox, in Chrome, it begins the loading blue strip till almost the end and then stops and no matter how long I wait it never completes.

Now I have installed Win 7 on my netbook, Medion E1210 which has probably the minimum requirements viz.

Ram 1GB

1.60 Ghz Intel Atom N270

160 GB HDD

Could this be the reason gmail stops? I can access gmail via other ways which give limited features.

Any advice - please - thanks.

I have learned thru the Gmail troubleshooter that extensions can cause this problem. Unenabling the 6 I had cured the problem.

enabling again and turning off one by one I found that with Gmail classic view extension turned off problem solved. I didn't try others one by one as classic view is not vital to me.

Surprisingly when I turned on my 2 GB RAM pc the same problem occurred which made me think it was a Google problem. Again turning off the gmail classic view solved the glitch. So why this occurs is still a mystery.

Good detective work. Sounds like the "Gmail classic view extension" program simply has a bug/issue that needs to be resolved by the programmer(s).
