My boss' computer at work has some kind of funny lag and freezing happening, but only with two sites (foxnews.com and facebook).

Flash and Java have both been updated, and the only other plugins / extensions installed are NoScript, Ad block plus, and quicktime.  I've tried disabling all his plugins and extensions and still get the same results.

Whenever a link is clicked, on either site, the browser hangs for 2 - 5 seconds before finally loading the new page.  The loading animation starts and then freezes.

It's an Intel dual core 2.5 ghz cpu, with 2 GB RAM running Windows 7.

The only thing I can think of is he might need to upgrade his RAM, but I don't want to go out and spend $40 for 2 GB of RAM if anybody has any other suggestions, besides switching to a different browser.

I actually haven't checked to see how IE or Chrome work on his computer, but I've finally gotten him used to Firefox, and his girlfriend can't seem to keep the computer from becoming infected if IE is available (I've deleted all the shortcuts to it).

I've run scans with Malwarebytes and AVG and both come up clean everytime, for the last two months, and Malwarebyte's logs show nothing during it's normal schedule scans.

I've tried numerous tweaks for firefox to try to limit the amount of RAM it's using, but it still ends up around 400MB + after just a few minutes of browsing.

Any ideas?

Ok, Firefox has been reset, and the issue is still occuring.  It hesitates just a second or two before it attempts to load a page when a link is clicked on foxnews' website.  The green loading animation starts, and then feezes.  The page loads, and hangs for a second or two, then finishes loading and works fine until the next link is clicked on or returning to the main page.

Any other ideas?  I'm kinda stumpped by this one myself.

Download screen317's Security Check

   and save it to your Desktop.
* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt
* Please post the contents of that document.
Note:: If any security program requests permission to access the Internet, allow it to do so.

Please download MiniToolBox   to desktop and run it.
Checkmark the following boxes:

* List content of Hosts
* Flush DNS
* Report IE Proxy Settings
* Reset IE Proxy Settings
* Report FF Proxy Settings
* Reset FF Proxy Settings
* List last 10 Event Viewer log
* List Installed Programs
* List Users, Partitions and Memory size
Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.
Click Go and Copy / Paste the result. (result.txt)

Please download RKill by Grinler from the link below and save it to your desktop.

    Rkill
    Before we begin, you should disable your anti-malware softwares you have installed so they do not interfere RKill running as some anti-malware softwares detect RKill as malicious. Please refer to this page if you are not sure how.
    Double-click on Rkill on your desktop to run it. (If you are using Windows Vista, please right-click on it and select Run As Administrator)
    A black screen will appear and then disappear. Please do not worry, that is normal. This means that the tool has been successfully executed.
    If nothing happens or if the tool does not run, please let me know in your next reply.
    A log pops up at the end of the run. This log file is located at C:\rkill.log.
    Please post the log in your next reply.

DO NOT REBOOT>>>>RUN THE NEXT SCAN STRAIGHT AWAY

Download AdwCleaner  by Xplode and save to your Desktop.

• Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
• Vista / Windows 7 / 8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator
• Click on the Scan button. (only once[/I])
• AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
• When it's done you'll see: Pending: Uncheck any elements you don't want removed.
• Now click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R0].txt) will open in Notepad for review.
• Look over the log especially under Files/Folders for any program you want to save.
• If there's a program you want to save, just uncheck it from AdwCleaner.
• If you're not sure, post the log for review.
• If you're ready to clean it all up.....click the Clean button.(only once)

Note you will be asked to click OK and confirm with OK to reboot.
• After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S0].txt) will open automatically.
• Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.

• A copy of that logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder.
• Items that are deleted are moved to the Quarantine Folder: C:\AdwCleaner\Quarantine
• To restore an item that has been deleted (if necessary):
• Go to Tools > Quarantine Manager > check what you want restored > now click on Restore.

Malwarebytes ran an autoupdate, with the new version that I hate, and came up clean.  I'll let you know the rest of the results from, minitool box, rkill and adwcleaneer, tomorrow.

BTW, the link for Screen317 Security Check is broken. Might update your auto response...

Java and Flash player have been updated now, but no improvements seen.  I don't really see what difference the Windows 7 SP1 update would do for the issue, to be honest, but let me know what you need me to do.

Ok, I've reinstalled adblock plus and no script for Firefox.

Before I allowed anything to get past No Script, using Foxnews.com, everything loaded immediately.  Even when I clicked on a link there was no freezing.

Looks like I've been able to narrow it down to a script being run on their site.  I'll have to see what I can figure out.

I'm 99% sure it isn't an infection, so delete / lock if you'd like, unless there's something the scans revealed I didn't notice.

Microsoft gives you Windows, Linux gives you the whole house...
