I have had Java disabled on my Firefox, since it was recommended to do so. (that was over a year ago or so)  I got a notice to update Java Runtime Environment.  I did it.  I usually go back and make sure Java still shows disabled on Firefox.  It always has been.  Now I do not see anything in plug ins, under add on manager tab, for Java.  I can call up Java Control Panel.  The box is unticked for Mozilla, but it is showing ticked for IE.  Some places won't be fully seen or usable without Java.  I also have No Script on my Firefox.  Sometimes it is a pain, but it has hopefully helped me.  Any ideas on this?

Which Java Update did you install...JRE 8 Update 05 or JRE 7 Update 55 both released on 04/15/14?

This article has suggestions which apply to Java 7 but may work with Java 8: If the Java plugin does not appear in the Add-ons Manager even though Java is installed

Thank you, but that did not help me either.  I downloaded the other version of Java, after I uninstalled it.  Same thing.  Then I got a message while checking for plug ins, that they are already aware of this problem.  For the time being, I just uninstalled it again...completely.  I don't want it running, and I can't confirm whether it was, or not.  Between this and the Heartbleed bug, I am in a fine state, no doubt about it.  Thanks for trying to help me.

Not a problem.

While researching your problem I came across a topic where this issue was reported about a year ago. It was corrected with a subsequent update. Now that it has returned and the vendor is aware, they most likely will include a fix in a future update.
