Laptop microphone not functioning properly

Hi,

 

 

 

I have a problem with my laptop(acer aspire 5349-2635) mic;it records voices,like mine for instance,just fine..but not background noises i put near the mic.i tried playing bird sounds or waterfall sounds,but it doesn't record that,only my voice.this thing is driving me crazy.any help would be much appreciated.thanks in adv!

What software are you using, is it current? How about the operating system and security software, all current? Is the microphone one of those noise cancelling types?

Used software is realtek.OS is Win 7 & Sec software's AVG.all current & up-to-date

Does the laptop let you adjust the microphone input volume?

JohnC_21:Done it already.   OldPhil:even so,when i try to record something other than my voice it still gives some kind of annoying peeping sound,almost as when someone would talk too loud on a mic.
