Connecting a ZTE 3g moden ( For Mobile Broadband) so you can get on the net is easy. I use Telstra in Australia so the screen shots show me connecting to that.

Plug the modem into USB port and wait for the PC to detect it. When it is detected you will see it as per screenshot no1. It's the Mobile Broadband button.

In the bottom left corner you will see the network icon in my case its the wifi icon. Click that to open the connections window.

First select Enable Mobile Broadband Now select Manage connections

Select the Mobile Broadband button and then the add button.

As you can see the modem is detected hit the next button

Here  we select the country and hit next.

Now we select the Provider ( in my case Telstra) and hit next

Select the billing plan and hit next and you are ready to go. No password or anything needed.

This will work with Unbuntu also. In Unbuntu the network button is in the top right hand corner of the panel

That's really great that you'd do that... Would help loads of people. There's not enough Linux'ophiles here.

The best thing is that this will work in most Linux distros because the settings are the same. You still need to manage connections and add the modem regardless of distro. It even works with puppy linux after you configure the moden in the gprs section. I will do a post about that soon.

Linux'ophiles
