Hello... I am certainly PRAYING that someone can assist me with recovering my pc.

I am running XP... I have read through the forums and followed the instructions to create a boot disk using ARCDC. (this is the thread that I used: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/454775/computer-wont-boot-up-not-even-in-safe-mode/)

Everything was going fine with the boot disk until I got to the part where you type chkdsk :/r at the prompt - it started to run and then I received another blue screen that stated: "The procedure entry point NtSerializeBoot could not be located in the dynamic link library ntdll.dll"

Also, when I first turned on the PC this morning and saw the blue screen, when trying to bypass it at the screen with the safe mode prompts I received this message on a blue screen "the ntldr is compressed"

Can anyone assist me please? Thank you in advance!

Read this for a possible solution to the compressed ntldr problem. Fixing that should also fix the other problem.

It didn't work! :-(    When I restarted...still got the BSPD. The message in the blue screen to to run chkdsk /F  - But when I try to do that at the prompt it says its a bad command.

Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you so much for your help!

No...I don't. I had to create one. I used http://artellos.com/arcdc-page - So it gets me in and to the prompt. My PRAYER is to not have to wipe my hard drive clean for obvious reasons.... So I'm trying everything I can before I have to do that.

You can download the recovery console from
http://home.comcast.net/~theoutcaste1/site/?/page/WinXP_Boot%2FRecovery_Console_ISO_Images/&PHPSESSID=7a33dc385af54f894514c2b837b8e50e

Burn it as you did with the other bootable disk, eg with ImgBurn using copy image to disk.

Boot from the recovery console, press r for repair. Use the chkdsk /r command

chkdsk /r includes /f

Be careful typing the command as any spelling mistakes give a command not recognised response.

Hello,

Have you resolved your problem? If not, there may be a chance to force the chkdsk on the hard drive. It may or may not work but the process will let you retrieve any important files you may need off the hard drive.

Any other advice is more than welcome!!! I'm really trying to save what's on here because resorting to erasing the entire thing.

Thanks in advance!
