Ok, gang, not sure what I did. But my list of recently used programs that usually comes up in the start menu is missing. Any ideas?

I think I know where you need to go to fix this, I'm not sure but try this:
  • right click on task bar
  • click on properties
  • click on start menu tab
  • with radio button on Start Menu click on Customize
  • click on Advanced tab
  • at the bottom check the check box List my most recently opened documents
Try that out, good luck.

No joy. But thanks for the idea.

Also, looking under the General tab, you can see I have the settings to show 6 recently used programs too.

Thanks HitSquad, you have helped me once again!

The fix for me was:
  • Start > Run type gpedit.msc click OK
  • Go to: User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar
  • On the right panel scroll down to and right click on: Remove frequent programs list from the Start Menu
  • Click Properties
  • Choose Disabled and click OK.
  • Reboot.
I am using Windows XP Professional.

Thanks again!
