I had my HP Pavilion Entertainment PC DV9700 laptop reformatted and now when I boot or wake it up from sleep mode my fan spins out of contol and loudly. Before the reformat I was using OS VISTA but now I have WINDOWS 7. Why?

You just gave it a work out, did you also give it a cleaning?  A 6 year old unit could very well have a very dusty fan, might even be time for replacement.

Thanks for your reply Phil. No, they did not clean it. I had it cleaned one year ago, though. Perhaps it is filled with dust again, yes ;-)

Will ask a tech to replace the fan if need be. It is just odd though that I did not have this prob. before the reformat and as soon as it

was reformatted the prob. began.

The fan assy is buried on them, I would try a blast from canned air first.  Also call the guy it would seem he would have noticed that when he bench checked it when done.
