Split from http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/506429/how-to-tame-device-manager-and-usb-driver-problem/ , moved to Win 8 - Hamluis.

In Device Manager the Intel® ICH family USB Enhanced Host Controllers show errors:

"The driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary entry.  This may be because the INF was written for Windows 95 or later."

My Speccy file information is located below.  Can anyone help?

A simple thing to do is to go into control panel, device manager then hardware.  Delete all the USB stuff then reboot, windows does a very good job of installing the new needed ones.  Over time from plugging in various USB devices many extra unneeded devices get added to the manager.

If you don't stand for the flag then you will fall for anything!
