The "my Computer" Shows Empty

I am running XP PRO. and when I try to access my computer, it is "empty" or cannot see any info on computer, etc.

It is a Sony Vaio laptop P3.

Click Start>Run. Type "services.msc" (no quotes) in the run dialog box and then click OK.
Check to make sure the plug n play service is running.
btw, can you see everything via windows explorer?
