Hi, rhys zaniel. With the holidays here it's been very busy around here, and it's likely to take a day to post recommendations for you to follow in fixing your PC. I will check it over for you. While you wait, I notice that your Internet Explorer is out-of-date. The newest version is 6.00.2800.1106. Its possible your windows98se is also. Why don't you visit Windows Updates and if it asks to install software, let it. Then click on the Scan link and let it do its thing. When its done you will see on your left a section called critical updates. Click on that section and install everything that you can. When it prompts you to reboot, do so. Then repeat this process again until there are no more critical updates listed. Post a new log, I can view both it and this one when determining what's best to do, OK? There are some problems to fix. :thumbsup:

rhys daniel, based on the first log, here are our recommendations.
Step through it first, noting all links. When you are ready to do the steps, please make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order that they're presented below. You should also print out or copy this page to Notepad. Screenshots are included to help you. You can post again if you experience problems understanding any of it. Go online for the downloads, but stay offline during the fix itself. Close all additional windows when using any of the programs or utilities, please.

You will need tools on your desktop. Unlike HJT, you may run them from the desktop. All are .zip files, and just leave them in the .zip folders for now. We will use them later. examples of zip files & after extraction to the desktop Please use these links to download them:Set your PC to: show hidden files.
This time Start-->MyComputer-->Tools-->Options-->View Tab-->Show Hidden Files & Folders (system-wide)

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode by tapping F8 until the screen appears where you can use the up arrow to choose safe mode. Hit enter.

Open your C:\HJT folder and double-click the icon. Close everything except HijackThis, nothing else on your desktop.

Run Hijackthis: click Scan, and put a checkmark next to each of the following objects.
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com
For an explanation click red sheriff

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {467FAEB2-5F5B-4c81-BAE0-2A4752CA7F4E} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\EVXT9B~1.DLL
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe
PowerReg Scheduler is a registration reminder that is used by a number of different companies. It is not needed and some people think that it reports back to the company about your computer, so I suggest fixing it...
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Control handler] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\1HRJR8Z15BHMSTHD.EXE
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [romahere3] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\1Z8R78EM7TDM.EXE
Delete the next two if you did not set these using a software like Spybot Search & Destroy, SpywareBlaster or another similar protection software.
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} -
O16 - DPF: {10003000-1000-0000-1000-000000000000} - ms-its:mhtml:file://C:\foo.mht!http://greg-tut.com/G7/chm10.chm::/ieloader.exe
When you're sure that files marked for deletion are correct, click the Fix button and exit HJT.

While still in safe mode Search for, locate and delete these files or folders (Do not be concerned if they do not exist, the previous steps may have eliminated them.) Do not delete main folders like C:\WINDOWS or C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM. We're looking for individual files, unless otherwise noted. The best way to find them is to use: Start-->Search-->select "all files & folders"-->select "more advanced options"-->checkmark: "search system folders", "search hidden files & folders", "search sub-folders". As the case may be, you can also simply navigate to the folders where these files reside, and delete them from there, one at a time. Right-click the individual file & choose "delete".
Delete:
C:\foo.mht<--this file only
C:\ieloader.exe<--this file only
C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm<--this file only
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\1Z8R78EM7TDM.EXE<--this file only
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\1HRJR8Z15BHMSTHD.EXE<--this file only
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\EVXT9B~1.DLL<--this file only

Extract CWShredder 1.59.1, open folder & choose to extract to your desktop. "Finish". Open the folder and double-click on the cwshredder.exe Select Fix

Reboot at least once, you will be back in normal mode, and perhaps a couple of times to be sure it worked.

Run AdAware, press the "Start" button, uncheck "Scan for negligible risk entries", select "Perform full system scan" and press "Next". Let AdAware remove anything it finds.

Run System Security Suite. (All windows and browsers closed) To clean out Temp and Temporary Internet Files, In the "Items to Clear" tab click:
1. Internet Explorer (left pane): Cookies & Temporary files
2. My Computer (right pane): Temporary files & Recycle Bin
Click the "Clear Selected Items" button. Close.

You may choose to move the programs on your desktop to a permanant folder or simply delete them, perhaps when you're certain the PC is clean.
Run HijackThis again and post the new log as a reply to this post.
(Include comments regarding any problems you might have had, and let us know if its working better. Some additional options may exist)
