Hey guys,
I started experiencing a problem with not being able to connect to the internet on my laptop a few weeks ago. The laptop is a sony VPCF115FM running Windows 7 HP SP1 64bit. The laptop will ping outside the local network successfully (ex: "ping google.com"), but no browsers will connect to the internet. Any program that tries to connect also has a problem, for example updating malwarebytes. Note that I AM able to check for updates, I AM able to access the internet in safe mode, and the wireless symbol is connected with excellent strength and no errors.

Things I have tried:
Virus removal programs (MBAM, JRT, Hitman Pro, Norton, hijackthis)
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig release / renew
checked all internet settings
Windows repair install
System restore (works for a few minutes then randomly goes back to not working)

The funny thing is I received a computer today from a customer who is experiencing the EXACT same symptoms. The computer is an HP g7-1257dx running Windows 7 HP SP1 64bit. She said it happened after an update. I scanned her computer and it came back with a few viruses, but the removal did not fix the issue. I'm thinking this either has to do with a windows update or a new virus that I am not able to discover. Any help on this issue is greatly appreciated!

Snap.  Same problem.  My laptop is an MSI GT60 running Windows 7 64 bit.  I will be following this thread closely.

I have a similar issue only it is certain websites that won't open - I'm thinking it's a router issue but my ISP doesn't want to hear it.
