Packard bell stuck on purple start up screen

Hi, I recently did a complete restart on quite an only packard bell desktop. Everything worked ok for a while then it rebooted itself and got stuck on the purple start up screen. I can not do another reboot as I can't get any further. Ok have tried replacing the bios battery in the motherboard and also cleaning an switching off holding start button 3 times. Please help

Can you boot into Safe Mode.

 

To boot into Safe Mode start tapping the F8 key immediately after pressing the power button to start the computer.

 

You should see a page like the one below.  Use the up or down arrows to navigate to Safe Mode, press Enter to select the option.

Do you have the installation disc for your version of Windows Vista?
