Shutdown While Hitting The Shift Key

for somereason whenever i hit the shift key and another one key for example when i hold down the shift key and hit an "s" the computer wants to turn off. The options come up to turn off, restart or standby. how can i disable this?

This problem sounds like the result of a faulty keyboard. Pressing Shift-S should simply send a capital S to the system and not a command to shut down.

Can you try another keyboard to compare results ?

Are you running any sort of 'hotkey manager' software that redefines keystrokes to perform commands ?
