Howdy,

Would you be kind enough to assist me with this nasty bug.

CryptoDefense

I have Win XP Pro and CryptoDefense has indeed mucked up my files as promised.
I just ran ccleaner, then stopped doing anything else in hopes of a more guided solution and don't want to make it worse.

I found the supposed decryption key in Application Data > Microsoft > Crypto > RSA and made a copy of it.

May I kindly request guidance?

Regards,
Wyatt.

Greetings Animal,

Thank you very much for your prompt response. I read everything and tried all the solutions to no avail.

No ShadowCopy available, no success with any of the rescue utilities.

Looking at the file dates, I am guessing that this PC was infected April 4th, so may be a new variant.

In your humble opinion, do you think that there may be a solution in development or should I give up and pay these nasty guys.

Many, many thank you's for the work and guidance that you have provided.

Cheers,

Wyatt.

Someone with more experience with this latest variant will need to reply. I'm just the head janitor and hall monitor to get people to the right places. :)

Someone will reply soon. Thanks for your kind words and patience.

Hello r0de0

There is also a lengthy ongoing discussion in this topic: CryptoDefense - Newest cryptolocker variant. Rather than have everyone start individual topics, it would be best (and more manageable for staff) if you posted any questions, comments or requests for assistance in that topic discussion.

Thanks
