I have two Durabook laptops running Win7-SP1 that seem to be having trouble reading data CD-Rs that are sent from another company. I have tried the CD-Rs in other computers without any trouble, and have tried other CD-Rs in the troubled laptops with success. It looks like the drivers are up to date and I have uninstalled/reinstalled the hardware.

The optical drives are: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT40N ATA Devices.

Any suggestions?

Using the CD-R that was given to us with the data on it, the drive spins up a bit, then nothing. If i try to navigate to the D: drive nothing is there. Checking the properties shows 0 KB used and 0 KB Availible. When I put the same CD-R in another computer, it work fine.

I also tried putting a couple different CD-Rs from other sources in the Durabooks and they worked fine.

So the problem seems to be with the specific drives and discs?
