hello I was recently aided in removing a pretty nasty virus off my system and the virus made it so I couldn't update windows, so now I had 160 updates and I finished installing all of them and then it said it needs to shutdown to finish installing so I did and it has just said "Shutting Down" for five hours now. is this normal and if not what should I do?

You've probably realized your machine has frozen by now...

This happens often when you install too many updates together, quite common. Or even on a standard update day... pretty normal errors.

Hold down the power button to kill the machine, if you haven't figured that yet.

When the system boots into Windows...then go back to Windows Update to see if any updates remain.
