Greetings!

I have a serious issue with my Toshiba Satellite L655-S5111.

A few weeks ago, I found that the computer would not load beyond the initial boot up screen (BIOS screen).  I did some searching and tried the following:
  • Holding F2 on bootup
  • Resetting BIOS by shorting the battery via motherboard jumper
  • Removing the CMOS battery for 30 minutes and replacing
  • Replacing the CMOS battery (Maxell ML1220) entirely

Unfortunately (for me), none of these remedies have resolved my issue.

The CMOS battery I purchased claims that it is new but I do not have any way to test the battery's integrity or charge.

I feel like I'm at the very end of my rope and am considering bringing the laptop to a professional.  If there is anything further I could try before doing so, please advise.

Thank you very much for your help and consideration.

There was nothing out of the ordinary that would happen when I would shut the computer down back when it worked normally.  Right now it doesn't do anything at all, really, it just goes to black once I hold down the power button.

When the computer was functional, my wife generally left it on 'sleep' versus powering it down, most of the time.

The fan is definitely spinning, it is rather loud but certainly functional.  I also hear some noise from the DVD tray but I don't particularly hear anything that makes me identify noise from the hard drive.

I get display on my laptop but it is only the launch screen for the BIOS.  I cannot progress any further into the startup process than that initial screen.

Here is what I followed for shorting the mobo jumper; http://www.askmefast.com/How_to_reset_bios_password_on_toshiba_satellite_L655S5150-qna3560915.html#q3393975.

Nope, it's just stuck at the initial load screen.  If I leave it alone, it just blacks out and reloads the same screen.

F12, F10 do nothing.  Here's an image of what I'm seeing.
