EDIT: This has now been resolved. I had to remove lots of registry entries and hidden devices in safe mode. All is well :)

Any folks with good knowledge of old serial modems and Windows software here?

I use a program called Callstation for caller ID and as answerphone along with an old 3COM U.S. Robotics Pro Message Modem. On my old build I did not have any issues. But I moved to my new build and now it no longer allows me to use it as an answerphone. I get a message about Wave Out ID not working. However Unimodem half duplex driver is installed and shows as working in device manager. I asked the people who make Callstation what they thought and they had no clue. I tried using a serial to USB adapter I had lying around and it too would not allow me to use answerphone mode.

It does however still display the caller ID number. So the software is recognising the modem correctly. Doing a modem diagnostic also shows it has no issues communicating as far as I can tell (I can post a log if needed).

I have tried the usual stuff like uninstalling and reinstalling Callstation. Adding and removing the unimodem driver. Adding and removing the modem driver.

BTW caller ID only works after running Caller ID fix in an app called Phonetray. But I had to use this on the previous build.

This is one of those issues most people will be unlikely to run into. I might even have to just buy an external answerphone system but would rather not if I can get it working.

EDIT: Just to make sure it was not the cable I tried it on a netbook I have and it works perfectly. Answerphone works. Just not on the PC I need it to run on!

EDIT2: I did a diagnostic on both computers and saved the logs. The one that is working on the netbook gives the following log.
