New to bleepingcomputer and am having troubles. I've seen several posts about removing ransomware (aka FBI Moneypak) and it seems as each person who posts has different scenarios or situations. I've tried following steps provided on these posts but usually come up to a point where my situation is different than what is on the post and it goes in the wrong direction for me...or the links that are posted are no longer valid. Can someone help me? I am NOT too tech savvy - so go easy on some of the terms and acronyms and whatnot please (lol). The system I am having an issue with is an older Dell Dimension x4600, xp o/s (got it in '04)...yes I know it's ancient, but I have files on there I would like to extract before I try a system restore. Please help!

G'day wdreid, and Welcome to BC !!

Create a post in malware removal (link below)

Be patient.

The Experts there are invariably busy....but it is worth the wait.

Basically you will be creating, copy and pasting a couple of DDS logs to your new topic, and then settling back and waiting.

You can probably ignore steps 2 & 3

Good Luck !
